Annales Zoologici Fennici (AnZF) has a long tradition of publishing high quality papers on all topics relating to zoology. AnZF welcomes submissions of original, previously unpublished research reports, review articles, rapid communications, and commentaries on any level of biological organization. AnZF especially welcomes manuscripts dealing with ecology, behavior, or evolutionary patterns of animals. AnZF also encourages submission of important research relating to conservation biology and wildlife management.SUBMISSION
- Research reports describe high quality previously unpublished research.
- Reviews summarize existing knowledge on selected topics, describe research projects, or announce launching of new research programmes.
- Rapid communications are short contributions of exceptional quality and importance which receive accelerated editorial handling. These manuscripts appear in print within three months of initial submission.
- Commentaries are similarly short and informal, and are reserved for the presentation of novel or controversial hypotheses and/or the reinterpretation of material published in this journal or elsewhere.
All submissions must be made electronically (please use Submission to Annales Zoologici Fennici to e-mail the files) and must contain:
- the complete manuscript (the text, figures and tables) as printable unprotected PDF file(s); lines of the text should be continuously numbered [e.g. in MS Word, please select 'Document' from the 'Format' menu, press 'Layout' and in the next window 'Line numbers ...', then check 'Add line numbering', 'Start at = 1', 'From text = Auto', 'Count by = 1' and select 'Continous'; after pressing OK, lines in your document will be numbered],
- completed submission form (MSWord file); submissions lacking completed submission forms will not be processed until properly completed forms are submitted.
Submitted papers should be prepared as indicated in our INSTRUCTIONS (manuscripts not following the required format may be returned). Filenames should not exceed 12 characters (PLEASE DO NOT USE UNICODE). The information normally given in a cover letter can be place in the body of a message. The author(s) are responsible for the quality of the language. Poor language, substantial departure from our instructions, and missing or incomplete submission form may result in returning the paper without review.
In print, an article length should NOT exceed 24 pages
Only when accepted, an MS Word (.doc or .rtf) file containing the manuscript (text, tables, captions, appendices) and possibly files with the figures should be sent to us by e-mail or on a CD.
